Vein twitch

Symptoms of varicose veins

Varicose veins are characterized by uneven expansion of the venous cavity of the legs, the appearance of nodules on it, and the increase in its length. The disease progresses gradually and is characterized by a chronic course.

Women suffer from varicose veins three times more frequently than men. Among the representatives of strong sexual ability, people who love sports and bear the greatest load on their legs are prone to this disease: football, tennis, basketball.

Why do varicose veins appear

There are three types of veins in the leg tissue: superficial veins, deep veins, connecting superficial veins and deep veins. Each vein is a hollow tube, and blood flows from the leg tissue to the heart. There are no muscle cells in the vein wall, so the vein cannot contract to push the blood upward. This task is performed by the skeletal muscles of the legs. The valve is located inside the vein-when the skeletal muscle contracts, it closes the valve and prevents blood from returning. The contraction of each muscle "pushes" the blood higher.

When the valve flap is not tightly closed, some blood flows back, stagnates in the vein, presses against its wall, and gradually stretches them. The venous cavity expands and its walls are stretched. This is the beginning of varicose veins

Disease triggers:

  • Inheritance-Congenital lack of collagen fibers, the vein wall is less elastic and easy to stretch.
  • Blood stagnation in the veins of the overweight and obese legs, wearing shoes with high heels over 3-4 cm, standing in the position of certain professionals for a long time-hairdressers and salesmen, chefs, lecturers, or sitting in the office for long periods of timestaff member.
  • Changes in hormone levels: The increase in progesterone levels in pregnant women's blood makes the walls soft and malleable, so the risk of varicose veins during pregnancy increases sharply.

The first signs of varicose veins-how to not miss it

The moment spider veins or spider veins (web-like varicose veins) appear on the skin of the leg veins, it is considered to be a warning sign of initial varicose veins. This is not an appearance defect, but the beginning of the disease!

At the same time or after a while, the second set of signs merge together-the feeling of heaviness in the legs, which spreads in the legs after standing or sitting on a chair for a long time. When a person starts to walk, the feeling of heaviness decreases: the skeletal muscle pushes stagnant blood to a higher position, and the dilation of the vein wall decreases.

The further development of the disease is manifested by swelling of the legs-these are traces of socks, one leg thickens relative to the other during the visual inspection. After

, leg muscle pain, rapid fatigue when walking, dry leg skin, hyperpigmentation, prominent varicose veins and trophic ulcer formation.

When should I go to the vascular surgeon?

When spider veins and asterisks appear for the first time, a specialist should be consulted, and if necessary, ultrasound examination of the veins of the lower limbs and varicose vein surgery should be performed. The earlier the diagnosis of varicose veins is, the more likely it is to stop the varicose veins early.
